Bird Watching in the Hudson Valley – Serenity at its Best
The Hudson Valley hosts a wide variety of our feathered friends, changing from season to season. Sanctuaries and preserves owned and maintained by the Orange County Audubon Society are prime destinations for inveterate bird watchers. Birds are attracted to the wetlands, forests, fields, and abandoned orchards that provide different ecosystems for resident and migrating birds. It’s not unusual to see bald eagles nesting in the Hudson Highlands along the rocky shore of West Point, or swooping along Hawks Nest and the Scenic Byway that runs along the Delaware River outside of Port Jervis.
